About

Most years Australia has the fantastic Animal Rights Forum. Anyone who has attended one will understand how inspiring they are. It’s not just the speakers, but the chance to meet other people interested in action for animals.

We thought that having a low-key event in Brisbane for locals would be a great supplement to this. One which doesn’t require such extensive organising: a conference by the people, for the people ... for the animals. Thus the Action for Animals community forum was born.

The forum part of the name is very important. This is not an event where we want people to be talked at from on high. We want to encourage dialogue, in the belief that most people have something to contribute, that conversations are the best way to inspire, educate and motivate each other, and that the sum of us is greater than the individual parts.

Ultimately we are just providing a supportive space for people who want to make this world a better place for animals to interact with each other. It is largely up to all of us together what happens in that space. Each of us needs to take some responsibility for the experience of others who attend.

Principles

The forum is a non-violent, inclusive space. We actively promote respect and challenge all forms of discrimination. Join us to participate in a welcoming discussion on diverse approaches to animal advocacy.
